Lincoln University Alumni Association (LUAA) Day

The day before Graduation is always going to be a busy one but add a further four key events into the mix and you know it will be epic! It all added up to inaugural Alumni Association Day and it was a great success.

On Thursday 23 April the Lincoln University Alumni Association’s 2015 AGM was held in the Baylis Lounge at the Lincoln Event Centre. Around 60 people attended. President Jo Spencer-Bower summarised the 2014 year and Vice-President James Nell gave the financial report.

Andrew O’Regan ran the election of officers which saw Jo Spencer-Bower remain as LUAA President, James Nell as Vice-President and the remainder of the executive returned to office along with the addition of Telford alumnus Simon Lee.

A copy of the 2014 and 2013 Alumni Association Annual Report can be found under the Alumni Association section on this website.

Bledisloe Medalist's address
Immediately following the AGM the 2014 Bledisloe Medal recipient, Dr Stephen Goldson, gave an address which was well received. Vice-Chancellor Dr Andrew West introduced Dr Goldson and said their association went back over 20 years.

LUAA Luncheon
Following the AGM and Dr Goldson’s address at the Event Centre, the annual Alumni Luncheon was held back on the Lincoln University campus in Te Kete Ika. James Nell hosted the luncheon and gave an update on the association’s plans for 2015.

Vice-Chancellor's Invitational PhD Dinner
Around 90 guests attended this second annual dinner. In addition to the guests of honour - the PhD graduands and their family members - those present included Chancellor Tom Lambie, Vice-Chancellor Dr Andrew West, Postgraduate Director Professor Ken Hughey, the Team Leader (Postgraduate) Bernadette Mani, and Alumni & Development Office staff. Professor Hughey was MC once again, but as he is standing down from the PG Director’s role (after more than 11 years of service!) it was his swansong. Professor Charles Brennan now takes over as Director. The dinner, launched last year as a new and special addition to the University’s calendar of events, was appreciated by all who attended and was a fitting celebration to congratulate the PhD graduands.
