Over 200 ex-students, staff, Farm Board and Council members attended and enjoyed the Golden Years 50th Reunion on the Telford campus, held over Easter (3-5 April) 2015.
Celebrations opened on the evening of Good Friday with the Farmlands Meet and Greet. Formal speeches were given by Dr Gerald Frengley, Lincoln University’s representative on the Telford Farm Board for 25 years; Bryan Cadogan, Clutha District Mayor; Tom Lambie, Chancellor of Lincoln University, and Martin Eadie, Lincoln-Telford’s new Director.
Farm tours on the Saturday morning included the equine arena and the new dairy shed, and there was also a display of vintage farm machinery provided by local enthusiasts.
A barbecue lunch, sponsored by BNZ, preceded a photo session. The group covering the years 1965 to 1976 had their photo taken with Mrs Lynda Snell and Marilyn McClintock, two women who had been like mothers to students at Telford back in the day.
Saturday evening concluded with the Silver Fern Farms dine and dance.
Sunday started with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, marking 50 years of education at Telford, by Dave Pearson, Telford Farm Advisory Committee member and Clutha District Mayor Bryan Cadogan. A golden totara tree was also planted.
