|Sydney gathering with a Kiwi twist|
Alumni in New South Wales, Australia, were given a taste of Waitangi Day just a week after the national celebration day in New Zealand.
The first Lincoln alumni ‘Waitangi style’ event of its kind in Sydney was held in the Harlequin Inn, Pyrmont, on Friday 13 February with a small but patriotic group.
The event was organised by Anisha Thomas of the University’s Alumni & Development Office, who spoke to the gathering about campus developments and, among other topics, the ‘house’ concept that will see all students assigned to a ‘house’ on arrival, much as in secondary schools.
Among those at the event were Alister Bennett, Robert Ludecke, Alan Boddy (Sydney alumni branch organiser who coordinates the annual Bledisloe Cup dinner), Peter Jolly, and Peter Hunt. Former Lincoln University staff member Dr Alison Kuiper also attended. Alison now works at the University of Sydney in the Institute of Teaching and Learning as a senior lecturer.
