|Graduation Day 2015|
Friday 24 April was graduation day and the campus fizzed with festivity for the day’s two ceremonies (morning and afternoon). A crisp, clear day meant the procession by the graduands and staff from the University campus to the Lincoln Event Centre wasn’t hampered in any way.
Both ceremonies ran smoothly and honorary doctorates were awarded to Sue Suckling (DSc, morning ceremony) recognising her contributions to New Zealand as a leader of a multitude of companies and organisations, most of them underpinned by science and technology innovation; and Ta Mark
Solomon (DNatRes, afternoon ceremony) acknowledging his leadership ensuring that Ngai Tahu is at the forefront of sound environmental practice and represented in investment and kaitiaki terms in ongoing environmental programmes in the region.
At Graduation the Bledisloe Medal for 2015 was awarded to John Acland and the Alumni International Medal to Dr John Morris. The University’s Principal Award for Excellence in Teaching was presented to Dr Tim Curran.
As students returned their academic regalia following the ceremonies they were able to relax and enjoy casual photos in the photo booth provided by the Alumni and Development Office and each graduate received a gift pack welcoming them to the Alumni Association.
