SPECIALIST: Bachelor of Agricultural Science with Honours, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
LANDED: Post-doctoral Soil Scientist, AgResearch
Southlander Diana Selbie comes from a family of Lincoln University Alumni.
"My father and uncle completed agricultural science degrees in the 1970s and recommended Lincoln. One of the things that really appealed to me was the broad range of topics and issues covered during the degree. It has helped to develop my strong interest in agriculture and the environment. The social atmosphere at university was also great and I met some fantastic people during my time there."
During her undergraduate studies, Diana applied for a scholarship in Ireland to pursue a PhD related to nitrogen in pastoral systems.
"Studying for the PhD was so valuable. You learn such a wide range of skills and use all the drive and determination you have to complete it, that you cannot help but come out of it a stronger person.
"I would like to be a part of helping New Zealand to become a world leader in sustainable agricultural production and environmental protection."
